Survey and Data Collection

 



In order to gather information, we made a survey together and asked 26 college students around campus to take it. We decided to create our survey through Google Forms. I have linked the survey at the bottom of this blog! Here is a list of the questions we asked! 

1. Do you plan your meals around sales prices? 

2. Do you buy name brand over store brand?

3. Where do you buy Groceries? 

4. How much do you spend on groceries a month? 

5. Roughly how much do you spend going out, doing activities, hanging out with friends in a month?

6. How much do you save monthly? 

7. What are your sources of income?

These questions were all multiple choice or yes/no questions. We did this so the data collection process would be easier, and ranges could be shown. We collected the following data:

Conclusion on Money That Saves

This project was extremely helpful, because it gave us insight into what college students, besides ourselves, are spending money on. This gave us a broad range of data to work with when finding out solution. Ultimately, we came to the conclusion that looking at store prices, sales/discounts, and store brand options will all help college students budget better. Most students were doing this already. We also found that decreasing the spending budget for activities and going out allows students to put more money into savings. Eli and Cayla worked on a final solution. This is linked below. Introduction to Math That Saves

 Hello readers!! This blog is made to show the budgeting research, study, and data created and collected by a group of college students. As college students, budgeting can be a difficult task that requires a lot of planning. It's important to factor in basic necessities, as well as events, emergencies, hangouts, etc. This is why we decided to create a project based on college student budgeting. We wanted to find out how college students could save more money based on their current budgeting techniques. In order to collect this information, we created a survey for the students that asked questions about grocery, spending, and saving habits. This information was then used to create an infographic describing our findings. Using our data, we can advise college students on how to spend less and save more. Infographic Creation

   The data collection was extremely useful, as it allowed us to create this infographic. We have linked the infographic down below. It contains the data we've collected in displayed in charts, our problem and solution, and our opinions. Cayla created our format for the Canva Infographic, added clip-art images, and worked on the question and solution statement, while Eli worked on the title and created the bar graph in the middle. Eli also shared the google form information with the group.  Emma worked on the five pie charts, wrote the subheading section, and labeled our charts.
